We, Michael and Lynn Monroe, started FungusAmongUs Inc. in a small corner of our garage in Seattle, Washington in 1993. We were purchasing shiitake mushroom blocks from another farmer in Oregon and set out to find out what kind of market there was for gourmet mushrooms. The response was overwhelmingly positive (with a few skeptics thrown in for good measure) so we decided to take the plunge in 1994 and bought a small farm in Snohomish, Washington, which is about 30 miles north of Seattle. We are now the largest gourmet mushroom farm in the state and have expanded into oyster and lion's mane production as well as providing wildcraft mushrooms to our customers. Several of our store chains asked us to come up with a dried line of cultivated and gourmet mushrooms because they were unhappy with the packaging and quality of the lines that were available to them. After meeting with huge success on our regional level, we decided to foray into the national level and have been very pleased with the response we have received. By providing both organic and conventionally grown mushrooms as well as wildcraft, we feel that we are able to meet most of the market's needs. We have added three Dried Mushroom and Herb Blends, Organic Soup Mixes and Melange Seasoning & Rub Marinades that make dish preparations even easier, catering to the growing population of time-deprived people everywhere.
