What is a loofalh?

Loofah is a plant that is part of the cucumber family.  Farmers in various sub-tropical regions of the world have been taught and trained to naturally grow and cultivate this plant.  Once the loofah vegetable has naturally dried on the vine, it is harvested and the skin peeled off to expose the inner fibers, which form the natural loofah sponge.  The loofah is then hand seeded, washed and left in the sun to dry naturally.

Loofah-Art products appear to some buyers as “rough to the touch”.  In its dry state, this may be true…but remember…these products look cute, and at the same time are hard working functional scrubbers!  Once wet, the sponge softens to the touch while still maintaining its superb cleaning qualities.  They are able to get into all the nooks and crannies that are typically difficult…such as grids of indoor grills, waffle makers, etc without scratching any of those surfaces including those that are delicate and non-stick.
