Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pour enough hot water over mushrooms to cover. Soak for 30 minutes or until soft. Place cheesecloth or coffee filter in strainer. Pour mushrooms into strainer over a bowl to catch soaking liquid. Use liquid in current dish or save for future use. (The liquid contains wonderful nutrients!) Remove cheesecloth or coffee filter leaving mushrooms in strainer. Run water over mushrooms in sink to rinse, then pat dry with paper towels.

  • We offer only USDA Certified Organic mushrooms. Because our mushrooms are sourced internationally, the USDA Certified Organic label is sometimes confusing to consumers. What many do not realize is that suppliers must go through the same strict and strenuous process that any US grower must go through in order to have their products bear the USDA Certified Organic seal/label. This means that all of our international growers must be certified by an approved USDA 3rd party certifier even if they are in another country. Not only mushrooms fall into this scenario. We suggest you take a look at your favorite organic teas from China or India, or other organic products you may have in your cupboards. You will clearly see the Country of Origin and the USDA Certified Organic seal. Our organic suppliers spend countless hours and make a substantial financial investment to meet the USDA Certified Organic regulations. We choose our suppliers carefully and buy from only the USDA Certified Organic suppliers who also have a passion for growing only the highest-quality mushrooms in the world.

  • We only sell USDA Certified Organic Dried Mushrooms and we source this line from the best growers in the world. Country of Origin varies from season to season because we must choose the best of each crop, worldwide. Mushroom quality and flavor, much like fine wine, varies depending on climate, humidity, and temperature fluctuation, along with many other factors. This requires us to research, locate, and choose the highest-quality USDA organic mushrooms every season. Consequently, the Country of Origin of any of our products can vary at any time. You can contact us before you purchase and we will be happy to let you know from what country (countries) your mushroom choice is currently available.
